Seeing Is Believing: Using Targeted Videos to Discuss Micro-Aggressions

This workshop will preview two short videos that depict micro-aggressions, subtle communications that are demeaning or insulting. Discussion after the viewing will cover approaches for structuring constructive dialog sessions around the videos. Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing tactics for discussing the un-discussable.

This is somewhat similar to

This is somewhat similar to the session "People with exotic accents", which has a more fleshed out description than this session. Communication is important in any setting, especially recognizing the cultural differences we might not always realize are there. Maybe this session could focus on the academic setting, since the other session is public library focused.

Good topic

Anything related to improving communication skills when in intercultural environments is important. I think the participants will gain much from this, especially if there is ample time for discussing strategies.
